Please tell me someone had enough of this!

No doubt consumer electronics are consumer durables, not all are meant to last. Here are some ways that will keep those buds long lasting which will in turn save the burn in your pocket.
1. QUALITY IS IN THE PENNY

By that I'm not saying that you need a Dxlce & G to crown yourself but that doesn't mean something you know is not going to last you more than a season of Pretty Little Liars.
Let's do some math here, if a $19.90 earbud lasts you for 3 months because
To last for a year you would be paying $79.60 and that would most probably not include a warranty.
Why not spend a little more at one go and get something better?

Skullcandy's Smokin' Buds with Mic ensures you with a one year warranty* just at $44.90** and has a variety of colours!

2. BIG BRAND vs NICHED BRAND
I know, I know. Mega brands always seem more reliable, trustworthy, recognised yada yada yada. Yes they are, BUT only in the genre of products they are niched in.
You can't be expecting Mega Brand X that specialises in manufacturing Kitchen Appliances to give you fantastic Audio Products
They can give you one that hits the benchmark but a niche brand would most probably vanquish.
3. UNPLUG THEM

Don't you just hate it when your headphones are broken and you have to hold it right there to get them to work?
Yes it's convenient to just wrap those buds around your iPod/phone/whatever device you are listening to. Yes it minimises tangling. but NO, you still should't do it. Unplug them. Wrapping them around not only bend them in awkward ways but it also damages its structure especially near the jack where it's most commonly broken.
But if you like to have your music spasmodically played throughout then that the way to go!
4. KEEP THEM
So what's next after unplugging them? Keep it! Not ball them up and chuck it in some compartments of your bag. Even the most expensive and niched brand is not indestructible.
Most of Skullcandy's earbuds (and headphones) comes together with a storage pouch.

They are designed to be compact and fitted for the buds that you've gotten so don't ever chuck them aside or leave them sitting in the box. You'd never know that they are the ones saving your dollars in the long run!
